I saw a pattern for an I-Phone case but it wasn’t really what I wanted, I had a pretty pink leather case that protected my I-phone, what I wanted was a case that I could put around my neck! I have been listening to a lot of podcasts lately and when doing the housework if you don’t have pockets you are buggered! This weekend I spent most of the time with my I-Phone stuffed down my bra, most uncomfortable.
I viewed a few patterns and decided to cast on 60 stitches, the pattern said 40 but a person that made a similar pattern said it felted way too small! So I knitted 20 cm in length and then cast off using the 3 stitch i-cord cast off method, I decided to do a 6 stitch i-cord lanyard and then felted the 2 pieces at 60 degrees. They shrunk a bit but not enough, I repeated the process but that wasn’t enough either! finally today I washed them at 95 degrees, still not enough and the colours had faded significantly. I then as a last resort tumble dried them at the highest heat setting (still no good :-( ). All that was left to do was to halve the size of the pocket produced by sewing a running stitch up the middle, cutting off the excess and then doing a row of blanket stitch along my join.
To attach my icord I dug a hole each side with the tip of a sharp pair of scissors and then poked the cord through and knotted it as it the photos. Although this is not one of the most glamorous projects I have knitted I am sure it will be one of the most useful!
If I had used a better wool for felting the outcome would have been better, the Noro cashmere Island IMHO did not felt that well.
