Following the pattern would produce a hat that would be big on Hagrid. I started over on 48 stitches. I didn’t like the look of the hat in the picture so I worked even for six inches, not seven. I felt the instructions created a waffled top from a too-rapid decrease rate, so in order to create a nicer crown, I inserted two plain rounds between Rounds 1 and 2, and again before round 3, and again before round 4, but not before round 5.
