As of December 2010, these socks are officially done. Meaning, I wore them out and they have holes in their soles. I could try to mend them, but I think I’ll just let them be. They ran their course and were AWESOME. Thank you, dearest socks.

We were leaving on a long car trip, so I decided to knit some gloves. Then I changed my mind to mittens. I finished the ribbed cuff and realized it was too big for my wrist, so I put it on my foot and saw that it could be a sock!

I spent about 6 hours knitting the first one, and finished the second one in one day (about 4.5 hours)! Wow! Now I know why people like knitting socks -- they go so quickly, compared to sweaters. They’re not perfect, or exactly identical, but they fit me nicely and look like actual socks, so I really like them.

Edit: I LOVE THESE SOCKS! I always want to wear them. I washed them twice so far, and no pilling! No shedding! Just a wonderful softening of the yarn, and the surfaces are less fuzzy than when I first knitted them. They stayed exactly the same shape, too. I will buy this yarn again for future socks and other items.
