Notes

Knitting with black yarn was hard. I tried a pattern with some details. But the black yarn made it very difficult to follow the yarn flow. I didn’t want to make a boring long tube of simple garter or ribs either. Here Brioche came in mind. Not only the stitches are easy to follow, it also gives some texture to the dark fabric. I like Brioche puff up to hug the calves.

I started with German Twisted Cast-on to cast on 52 sts. After knitting a few 1x1 ribs rows, I tried to pass the tube through my calf. It was snugged and comfortable. I knew I was on the right track. Then I looked up a brioche stitch that I liked from Knitting Fresh Brioche. The Double Line Chevron was a 26-stitch repeat which matched my stitch count perfectly! I knitted several repeats of Double Line Chevron, finished the leg warmer with a few 1x1 ribs and tabular cast-off. I tied the leg warmer with an i-cord string. The leg warmers stayed on my calves while I walked.
