Notes

I love the texture of Leyburn socks. The Quilted Lattice stitch pattern is easy to make and memorize. The overall sock construction, however, is not intuitive for beginner to follow. So I kept my own notes for reference:

  1. Video to illustrate how to make Short-row toes. - a new way to start a toe-up sock. But personally I prefer Judy’s magic cast-on with a few rounds of increases.

  2. Toes are reinforced by knitting with an extra fine alpaca yarn together. The stitches are tight to make, but the reinforcement brings extra warmth and durability to the socks.

  3. My gauge is off by a few stitches, so I added a few stitches to the sole, and kept the number of stitches on the instep.

  4. I can’t really figure out what the pattern says about the heel. So I used this code generator instead.

  5. When the heel is done, I added a few stitches to make 60 sts in total to complete the Quilted Lattice stitches in round.
