Notes

I didn’t have enough lace yarns to knit together, so I experimented to knit two different yarns in separate rows. The stitch pattern was adjusted to accommodate two colours.

MC - Murmur (cashmere fingering)
CC - Bokeh (mohair lace)

R1 (MC): k
R2 (MC): p
R3 (CC): k
R4 (CC): k
R5 (CC): p
R6 (CC): p

I first knitted the left pocket to obtain my gauge. As expected, it was different than the pattern’s so I used a spreadsheet to recalculate the stitch counts.

Hem
I used MC only for the Hem. The ribbing turned out to be much shorter than the main body when I used a smaller needle. So I frogged and used the same needle for both hem and body. I cast on 254sts to obtain Size 2 on the pattern.

Knit till the piece is 12” from the edge - there should be 17 repeats to reach the desired length based on my gauge.

Yoke Separation
k57 (Right Front sts). CO 14 sts for underarm. 197 sts on spare.

Right Front Neck Shaping
Work on the 71 sts for the Right Front. Decrease every 8 rows (on every 7th row) until 63 sts remain.

Work 21 more rows without decrease.

Short Row Shoulder Shaping

  1. Starting on RS, work till 6 sts remain. Turn, make DS. Work to the end.
  2. Work till 6 sts before the DS. Turn, make DS. Work to the end. Repeat #2 one more time.
  3. Work till 5 sts before the DS. Turn, make DS. Work to the end. Repeat #3 until no more.
  4. On RS, use MC to knit till the end, work each DS as k2tog along the way.

There should be 19 rows in total.

Left Front Neck Shaping
Return to the held sts for the Back and Left Front. With RS facing, the first 140 sts will remain on hold for the Back. The last 57 sts can be returned to the Main Fabric needle for the Left Front.

With MC, use the Cable Cast-On method to CO 14 sts - this is now the left armhole edge. Knit across the newly cast-on sts & all of the Left Front Sts. 71 sts in total.

Mirror the Right Front Neck Shaping until Short-row Shoulder Shaping. As the short rows need to be done on the left side of the RS fabric, the yarns have to cut and re-join on the WS. Repeat the Short-row Shoulder Shaping for the Left Front.

Back Yoke
Return 140 back sts to Main Fabric needle. With RS facing, join yarn and using the Cable Cast On method, CO 14 underarm sts, knit across the newly cast on sts and all of the Back sts, using the Backwards Loop method, CO 14 underarm sts. Make 84 rows before Short-row shaping.

Make short-row shaping for 11 rows. When color change is needed, break the yarn when it is on the opposite side of the fabric. Join the yarn after making a DS. Carry the previous colour as a float to the position in where next colour change will be made.

On Short-Row 12, bind off 26 sts at the centre.

Sleeves Cuffs
Circumference is 16” - pick up 118 sts with CC. Make 1x1 ribbing for 1”. Tubular bind-off.

Pockets
CO 45. Make 8 wedges before making short row.

Pockets - short rows
R1: k till 3 sts remaining. Turn, make DS. p to the end.
R2: k till 1 st before DS. Turn, make DS, k to the end.

Repeat R2 until no more sts.

Pockets - edging
After finishing the short rows, use CC to make kfb on each sts to double the number of stitches. Put every other stitch on a spare needle on the WS. Stockinette st for 1”. Fold with WS together. Make Kitchener Bind-off with the stitches on the spare needle.
