Notes

Digging through my stash for this one, in grey and white tones. And some sparkly grey! Very exciting.

Cast on an extra 20 stitches (116 sts) for cowl - I want the cowl bigger. Cowl is also going to be knit with a DK yarn, instead of worsted, so those 20 extra stitches may not go as far as hoped.

And here’s hoping I can figure out this welting business!

Oct 5: Figured out the welting business. It was no big whoop. Using yarns of varying weights is going to make for an interesting drape, I think. The top shortrows are all heavy worsted or bulky yarns (except for the last one), and the striped middle part is a DK (white) and light worsted (grey). I really like the way this is coming out so far.

Oct 13: Finished the body. It’s way more asymmetrical than it’s supposed to be, but I think I like the look of it better! It’ll probably stretch out a bit on the short side with blocking, but I hope the hemline stays asymmetrical. It’s a flattering hemline.

Already thinking about how I’d like to knit this again, with only Shibui yarn, and do it as a light-to-dark ombre.

Oct 25: It’s blocking! It’s blocking! It’s blocking! I tried it on before wetting it down, and it looks so pretty. I’m in love with it. It is the best thing in the history of all the knitted things ever.

I figured out why it’s so asymmetrical at the hem: I didn’t do enough short rows in the yoke. But I think I like it better with the asymmetrical hem. It’s much more flattering to my body shape.
