Notes

Starting a new Galaxy of Change blanket for my grandson. I did mix brands .. just a little. :) I used a lot of colors because I was trying to use yarn from my stash. Your count is very important so do always remember to count often. Also watch the points of the star. They often have a different count then the round before. I just didn’t love the look of my star in the middle until the piece rounded out and it just all came together. The star really pops out at this point. On Round 48, remember you have a ch 1 between the shells as well as in the shells. After round 55 it measured 4 feet across. ( I used two colors here..Cobalt for round 60, Royal for 61 and 62. Then back to cobalt of 63. For these four rounds, I think if you used all one color you would have a wider and more pronounces ripple. Just something to think about.) I found rounds 61 and 62 to be a real challenge but they add a beautiful texture. Take your time here, you really don’t want to do these two rounds over! Stop and check each peak to see if all your fptr are going the right way. After you finish these two rounds, take a deep breath and pat yourself on the back. The hardest part is over! On Round 68 take note of the points.. they should have a tr v stitch and chain 2 and another tr v stitch. ( I missed this and had to do this round over) For the most part, v stitches are your friend. They go fast. NOTE In round 77 when he says to sk three stitches, he is counting the ch as one of the stitches. Once again be careful of the points. They often have a different count from the previous round. Stitch markers are really helpful in rounds 89 and 90. I placed a marker ever 100 stitches. The breaded section (rounds 91- 94) can be tricky. Be sure to remember what color each round is…writhing it on the pattern will help. You’ll be instructed to crochet into a certain round. Knowing the color of that round makes it easier and you’ll know your in the right spot. Once again stitch markers are a blessing in round 97.
