Time for a new test! A beautiful and unique pattern designed be Frank O’Randle. I thought I had found a great color combo. They matched so well…. to well. There just wasn’t enough contrast so I had to re-think it. Be sure when choosing colors you have a good contrast or it will all just blend and look a bit jumbled.
The center works up well. On most rounds, Frank will instruct you where to start off. Very important so the stitches will all line up as needed.
A word of advice… Be very careful and check each round because a lot of the rounds are cut and ends woven in. This makes it hard to pull any work out. Also be sure to leave a good long end so you will have plenty to weave in.
Round 17 changes the placement of the post stitches. Take a close look. Your “petal” is starting to close here. Frank has a close up picture on his project page.
Through round 20 and all is good.
Always count!
Round 28 really pulls it all together. Gives a more finished look. I used stitch markers here to keep an accurate count.
Round 41 and 42 sure are yarn eaters!
On Round 46 a good way to check your placement … the chain 2 falls above the dc2tg form the round below.
Round 48 and 50 are also easy to check your placement. Your chain 2 will straddle the center dc of the 3 dc group.
Round 55 took me a bit to get my post stitches in the right place. Frank has a close up picture that helped. I found the center (3 dc) of round 51 and counted over 7 stitches. That’s where I placed the first post stitch.
Be sure to not do the post stitches on round 60 to tight. They will pull if you do.
A heads up on round 62 The sequence changes with the sc. The first set has 6 and the next set has 8 sc. Be careful or your count won’t come out right at the end of the round.
Two things to always do while making this blanket. Always count. Your count is so important and always follow Franks instructions for stitch placement.
Normally I add a color sequence but since I am working with only two colors this probably isn’t necessary. :) Update… I changed my mind and added two more colors however the rose is only used on rounds 40,41, 42 and 69. and the green is only used on round 62
Finished 4/21/18 Finished size 60 inches (5 feet) across
I love how it turned out! Bright and fun! :)
