Working on a new test for Helen Shrimpton. Lots of beautiful texture as is in all her blankets. I have to say I am out of my comfort zone with these colors. Keeping my fingers crossed this will work out. The gray is an ombre and works up in gradient changes. This roll started dark and as you can see the outer section in the picture is much lighted now. Same roll of yarn! No color changes of cutting. Just using it rs it comes. I am really no a fan of red and plan to only use it as a highlight.
The pattern really moves along well. Nothing to give a heads up about other then looking out for the hidden stitches and and of course count as you go. Anyone intimidated by some of the more advanced stitches… star stitch. folding sc or ever the ruffle stitch… this is the pattern for you. The stitches in this is more basic but WOW what texture!
Well, as you can see by the new pictures, I did use more red then I first expected.
Round 45 has a very long stitch repeat. Take your time. Sometimes I find it easier to wright it out. A good way to check your placement is the 3 triplets. One before the tr, one into the tr made into the tr between the popcorn’s and one after the tr.

The most important thing is count, count and count again. Your stitches must be the correct number as you begin the corners. The first couple of rounds are worked all the way around and then you will work the corners off one by one. Round 59 Read carefully! AT first it says to bpdc2tog but then it will just tell you to work around one stitch. The first two shells and the last two shells are the same but the middle two are different.
I would suggest leaving long tails when working off the corners. Each time I added another row I not only crochet over the tail but also wove it back for added security.
Note** when you are finished with round 63, you will have 12 remaining stitches between the corners on each side going into round 64.*
A big heads up on round 70.. the hidden stitches are real easy to miss here. Look out for the corners on round 77. There is only one hdc here.
