I started a few projects, including Emsworth, at the same time. I like to have several WIPs going, and I was in this weird place where I had none.

I’ve been wishing for this vest to wear all winter! I finished the other things first, though, and that was good.

First, I LOVE this yarn. It’s so soft but gutsy. Carol Feller is a genius. As soon as I finished Emsworth, I ordered more (Angry Monkey color way, it’s a gorgeous, unusual color, plus I loved the name) to make another Isabel Kramer pattern. It’ll be one of her pullovers but I haven’t decided which one. Carol Feller’s Transom cardigan, designed for this yarn, is a possibility, too.

Mods:

The pattern is well written, as this designer is known for. I knitted 14 extra rows to make the armholes deeper. I thought that would mean 14 additional rows for the back before joining the front and back at the same row in the pattern, but it was quite a few more. I don’t understand that math, but as I was already going for deep armholes, i just kept knitting until they matched. Looks fine.

If’d taken more time to think about it, I’d have knitted the increases in the body to make it a bit of an a-line shape. I want this to fit loosely over flannel shirts.

I did a tubular bind off on the neck, arms, and hem. I’m so happy with how it turned out. And it’s a color I never get tired of, even before it recently became popular.
