This is the fastest I’ve knitted an adult sweater. I told my son-in-law Seth at Christmas I thought I could finish by the end of January, giving myself an ambitious (for me) deadline.

I wanted to make it happen. When I got the news in early January that I needed eye surgery ASAP, I was even more determined as the surgery is scheduled for the 29th. And it is getting harder to see by the day!

I’ve got the whole thing knitted, shoulders and sleeve caps seamed. I’m starting the v-neck, and figuring out how the heck you do a neat center with 2x2 ribbing. I found this video to help: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FslivHMitMk

I wondered about that when I decided on the pattern, and as usual decided to worry about it when I had to.

It’s on the blocking boards. Looked okay on my husband. Though I bought this custom pattern with Seth’s measurements, it might work for him as well. The squish factor of the fabric is luxurious, and I don’t mind the double centered v-neck with 2x2 ribbing.

I was expecting a stretchy battle blocking a super wash sweater, but the Berroco Ultra behaved well.

I’m scrabbling around for some more knitting because I will try to do it with one eye after my surgery tomorrow. I will eventually get my vision back but it will take several weeks. Meanwhile I might call myself The One-Eyed Knitter.

Sweater is in the mail to Seth. Eye surgery went well. Knitting with one eye not so fun, but I am managing.
