Amazingly the sweater fits, except with some very long sleeves.

I ordered a metal zipper from Zipperstop, a good experience in terms of cost and timeliness in receiving my order.

As this is superwash and made for a child in a household that doesn’t pay special attention to laundry, I didn’t block it the usual way. The designer advises blocking the sweater the way it will be cared for, which was in the washing machine. I put it in the dryer until it was almost dry, then measured for the zipper.

I like to hand sew, I don’t mind seaming sweaters, but I put off sewing the zipper in for weeks. Finally I did it, referring to the designer’s blog post on how her mother does it (love that she relies on her mom). It was had to keep the edge equidistant from the metal zipper all the waydown but I think it is okay.
