2.27.19. I really thought I would like to do some overshot with a striped warp, but I just couldn’t bring myself to wind those warp stripes. So I settled on a bright green warp. I’m going to play around with some weft colors to see what happens.
2.28.19. Beaming went without any problems at all. Yay. All threaded, too, but I miscalculated number of ends required, and I have 10-12 leftovers to dangle off the back of the loom. Unless I discover a threading error. I did go back and check all the threading, and it looks fine. Looking forward to weaving, after the sleying, tying on, and tying up are complete.
3.8.19. Finished weaving one towel. Floats are longer than I expected, but since I didn’t check before I started, I’ll chalk it up to a lesson learned through experience. I tried a different treadling for the second towel, but I didn’t care for it. Contemplated cutting off the first towel and retreading with a different draft, but then decided to try changing up the colors a bit. So I’m liking the draft a bit better now. Will keep going.
3.13.19. Have started the third towel. I don’t know how they’ll work out with their long floats, but I’m enjoying the cheerful colors.
4.20.19. All done! Six towels, and they are beautiful! So happy with them. Will take pictures tomorrow if the light is good. Two have thick and thin white weft, which is heavier than 8/2. It looks great but is maybe a little bulky, and isn’t beat to square. The 8/2 weft towels are super.
