Photo 2: Transfer live stitches onto spare yarn

Photo 3: Cast on provisionally the required number of stitches. Crochet chain cast-on is used here

Photo 4: Work the next round incorporating newly cast-on stitches

Photo 5: Finish the detail

Photo 6: Retrieve live stitches from the spare yarn

Photo 7: Retrieve live stitches from the provisional cast-on. First stitch is a half-loop actually

Photo 8: Retrieve the rest of live stitches from the provisional cast-on, undoing it as you go

Photo 9: Last stitch is a half-loop, too

Photo 10: All the stitches are ready

Photo 11: Attach the yarn in the middle of the top of the opening (where provisional cast-on was) and work to the half-loop

Photo 12: Work the half-loop twisted

Photo 13: Tricorner at the left (Step 4a). Insert the hook into the farther leg of the stitch immediately adjacent to the opening (i.e. the one before the live stitches)

Photo 14: Rotate the hook to twist that leg

Photo 15: Grab the other leg of that stitch...

Photo 16: ...and pull it through the loop on the hook. Tricorner complete!

Photo 17: Place the Tricorner stitch back onto left needle and work it (i.e. it goes to the "provisional cast-on" side)

Photo 18: Work through the live stitches

Photo 19: Tricorner at the right (Step 4b). Again, insert the hook into the farther leg of the stitch immediately adjacent to the opening (i.e. the one after the former live stitches just knit)

Photo 20: Rotate the hook to twist that leg. If you are inclined so, make sure to twist it mirrored

Photo 21: Grab the other leg of this stitch...

Photo 22: ...and pull it through the loop on the hook. The second Tricorner complete as well! Work it and count as the first stitch of the "provisional cast-on side"

Photo 23: Work the next half-loop twisted

Photo 24: Continue this part per pattern
