Great pattern! Easy to follow and quick to make. I floated the yarn behind the mouth, a rather large float. I have felted a lot and had some concerns about leaving the floats so I cut them in the middle after finishing a few rows and knotted them. This worked great. Didn’t bunch and was easy to cut the felted knots off after.
I stuffed him with dish towels and rags till almost dry then took them out. I cut round disks of white felt and put them behind the safety eyes then needle felted three colors roving on top for hair. Half the battle of getting the correct shape is to pull on it when wet. Love it!
I cut the mouth a little too large so he got a little floppy. I had some “beacon stiffin stuff” left from another project and it worked GREAT! Didn’t change the color. I stuck a bamboo skewer inside him that I bent over to his height and then I could stiffin it inside and out.
June 1: I just have to make another one for my granddaughters high school grad present. I think she will love it. I’ve had sooo many people lovin the other one and I use it in our rv for spare change, etc or anything I want to remember where I put it. When not on the road, I put him in the house. My husband loves it too. Was thinking it would be a good idea to make in school colors, but I didn’t have those colors so I made it with what I have on hand which is yellows. Also giving this one more hair.
June 4: finished him. Used cut out cotton cloth for the brows. I Wanted to make it so he looked scared. Bwaahaaahaaa a…..these still make me smile whenever I see them.
