Notes

Wow, this went so fast that I have no project notes!?!

I have 20 grams of yarn left over - mostly the fractal. Per yarn notes, the yarn is 90 yds per oz. I have .7 oz. 90 x .7 = 63 yds left. 360 total - 63 = 297 yds used for Knitmeter.

I started w/a 4 oz braid of Horn Dorset from ThePaintedTiger]’s fiber club.

I had 20 grams left at end of project. Assume original was 100 grams, 20 left…nope, there’s no way I used only 80% of this fiber…ok, double checked, see photo - orginal braid was only 4 oz, so approx 100 g.

See spinning notes. I created 360 yds of yarn. Used 80/100 of it or 288 yds for KnitMeter.

This was a really fun project.

Split the braid in half lengthwise. Spun a single and chain plied the first half.

Second half was divided into thirds. 1st 1/3 was spun end to end for the first ply of a fractal. 2nd 1/3 was dividend in half and spun one half after the other for the 2nd ply of a fractal. 3rd 1/3 was divided into quarters and spun end to end to end to end for the 3rd ply of a fractal.

Note to self if doing this again? Start by dividing braid into halves (probably length wise) for matching socks. This would have the added benefit of making the stripes change color faster.

Socks washed well, appeared to hold their shape and not felt during blocking. Very little color released into wash water. No visible change to colors on socks.
