Notes

Summary of changes:

  1. Added 10 stitches across to make the lapels overlap each other more.
  2. Started top/neck down instead of bottom/hem up.
  3. Added 1 inch to the height of the neck section.
  4. Incorporated the Woven Slip stitch pattern from Fell Garth Collection’s Brenna cowl as the back.
  5. After trying on vest in my LYS on Dec 30th, we all agreed that the neck section should be worn as the bottom, and the shorter section I am currently finishing should be half the height of the longer section.

My yarn arrived just in time to kick off November. I’m pretty excited about knitting this versatile garment. My main plan is to use it as a shorter vest so that my neck and back will be kept warm without needing a shawl or cowl.

FYI: I add 10 stitches in width so I can wear this vest as an outerwear garment. The stitches will be distributed in the chest/arm area increased with 5-0-5. I might be running out of yarn from the increase, but I planned on incorporating a reversible cable pattern into the back with a contrasting colorway.

Turned in for Habitats of Magical Creatures November 2016 homework.

A bit of a reveal: I was inspired by the Brenna cowl I made in the I Heart The Fibre Co. KAL.

December 31, 2016

I am including this project as part of a 5-garment Detention OWL for Winter 2017. My plan is to knit another 2 inches before binding off. I still need to weave in all the ends, wash/block, and find a shawl pin or toggles that will close up the vest.

Frogged due to never being able to wear this poorly shaped/fitted garment.
