This was a really fun project to make - a happy project.

I began with a two colour long tailed cast on alternating with yellow and white. Then a latvian braid. Knit one row yellow, purl one row yellow and second latvian braid.
Then knit chart 1

Knit chart two until row 37. I put the peasant thumbs in this row - 2 stitches in from whichever side you are knitting (right or left mitten, PALM side) for 14 stitches. I used an afterthought row and continued with chart 2 from the beginning on row 1 again for the FRONT of mitten. From here on, I used chart 3 for the palm of the hand.
I used chart 4 (coming soon) for the thumb. I added stitches to give the correct number needed for the thumb. This gives a nice give so that the peasant thumb does not pull when worn.

I used size 2.25 mm until where the thumb goes on row 37 of chart 2 just before beginning the chart the second time and then switched to 2.5 mm.

AS usual, not happy with my pics. The lighting is not too good. I really do need to take a photography course someday.
