mods: Instead of the braid, I changed the top of the sock to 6 rows of k1p1. Then 4 rows of the rose followed by k1k1 alternating between the white and the rose, after which I began the cuff pattern graph and continue as written for the rest of the sock until the end of the toe where I stopped with 12 stitches on the needle, k1 row and then kitchner stitching rather than going down to 8 and pulling the thread through as the pattern called for. Next time I will make her cuff because it is much prettier as written. Love all the detailing that Stephanie Van der Linden uses in creating her beautiful patterns. The fit is wonderful as well although I do plan to cut out 2 rows of the heel flap next time. They are always just that bit long for me.

I like the colours of the Araucania but it is too harsh for me. I like it though where it is mixed with the alpaca for the body of the sock. The alpaca softens it beautifully. I don’t know how the alpaca will hold up though. Only time will tell. I did have to go down to 2mm/0 US needles to get the right guage with this yarn.
I used 37 grams of the orange and 35 grams of the rose and most of the alpaca skein. Only 17 grams were left out of 50 for the alpaca.

note to self: If/when I make these again, continue the heel flap in pattern and only go into solid alternate colour at the beginning of short rows. Also shorten the heel by 3-4 rows.

Next time use blue/yellow/cream.
