I’m not using the pattern proper, just the net. My aim is to make it as close to seamless as possible.

28/11: Two linked half cubes done.

3/12: Finished one of those cubes, filled it and grafted it with the filling. It does not look like it will be too difficult to go on with the full cube there… we will see…

10/12: only one face left for the second full cube (have the first half one just dangling there)
I have decided to do all the grafting and filling at the end. I also decided to just cut the yarn after most colours, as having the balls dangling there too was a bit cumbersome. I also realised the naming scheme I had made was not right, but I am keeping my place at the net well anyway. Not that anyone but me could understand my notes, LOL

24/12: Got into a nice rhythm making the next ones - there is a clear pattern to the way the cubes are linked. I am two faces into the 7th cube, and got three faces left of the first one. We will see how fiddly it gets when I attach back to the first one, but for now, it is not fiddly at all! I even think I could be filling the cubes as I go.

27/12: Just three faces to go! I made 5 faces in the last cube, and decided to go back to the first one and do 2 more faces, so the last 2 to knit are the ones joining the first and last cube.

I also cut the foam cubes and put them in the other 6 cubes. I am very curious as to whether I’ll be able to finish it with the cubes filled. I did not sew them closed, though, so I can empty them if I need.

29/12: Finished the knitting! Yes it can totally be done with the completed cubes filled. Now, just a few edges to graft…

31/12: Grafted most of the edges, then realised just plain sewing them was much faster and looks better! Not perfect, but finished, and I love it!
