This is super lightweight and comfortable! Once you get the hang of the two-color braid technique, it’s a lot faster and less intimidating. I did size down to a US 2 for the lateral braids, and I recommend it for less buckling/rippling.

Please forgive the ripply part on my try-on photo… I had dried it over a radiator and it wasn’t dried flat.

Main color is a wool-cotton, so should be airy and it’s very lightweight. It’s a barely-there feel. I added 3” sleeves, and used the decreases as listed in the Miltonia sweater in the armpit.

Personal construction notes:

I altered this to accommodate my arms, and the arm hole circ is 22”. My stripes are 2.5” and the solid areas 3.5”. I made size 6 and felt it could benefit from slightly beefier stripes.

My sweaters always end up shorter in front (from boobs and belly) and bunched up in back. I fix this somewhat by doing several short rows across the front that inch towards the back with each pass.

If you look at the whole photo of the back of the shirt, you’ll see there is no MC stripe after the CC. It goes right into the ribbing. That’s the result of my short rows, which I began right after the last braid.
