The yarn line that I chose reminded me of the colors of a garden, or a vintage botanical print. I wanted the sweater to reflect the gentle hues of nature while still having contrasting values… and mostly I did that.

The real life color of the Blush and Dandelion yarns turned out to be much less vivid than the online photos suggested, so I had to make some decisions about subbing yarns. I could have bought the more orange shades, sub from my stash, or just go with the colors that had less contrast (the blush). (I love the yarn… I wanted to use it all… so I subbed only the melon.)

MC1 - Rosemary (neck collar)
MC2 - Sand (light main color)
MC3 & MC4 - Rock Pool (dark main color and bottom ribbing)

CC1 - Lily Pad (gold color on chart)
CC2 - Duck Egg (silver color on chart)
CC3 - Melon (pink color on chart)
CC4 - Blush (red color on chart, blossoms)

I changed from needles US 3 to US 4 at row 16.
I decided to use CC3 for rows 40, 41, 42 (to make the “balls” all one color).
