Notes

Simple zig zag sock pattern to use up scrap yarn, and hand dyed yarns with wiltons. Making them for a Christmas gift.

Cast on any multiple of 4. I used 64 St. Join in round and work in 2 x 2 rib to desired length.

Then work multiples of:

o o o x o o o x
x o x x x o x x
x x x v x x x v
v x v v v x v v
v v v v v v v v

Etc. each letter represents a different colour.

Number of lines in only one colour can be increased for wider zig zags.

Continue until desired length is achieved, stopping after a three round solid colour, then work eye of partridge heel flap (in different colour than last stripe) over half stitches and turn your heel in your desired technique.

Work across heel turn and pick up stitches down left side of heel flap. Place beginning of round marker. Slip 3, k1 and repeat until across the top of foot. Place Mid round marker. K 3 in previous stripe colour and slip 1 in colour used for heel. Be sure to carry any other colours around to the beginning of round point. Repeat until next marker.

Now you can return to zig zag pattern. One stripe under foot will be narrower.

While continuing on in zig zags, remember to k2tog k1 before mid round marker, and to k1 ssk after beginning of round marker. ( decreases every second round).

Continue in zig zag with decreases until your stitch count is same as you started with. (In my case, 64)

Then, just continue zig zag until 1.5 inches short of desired finished length. Zig zag in last colour and work 4 decreases per every second round as follows: beginning of round marker, k1 ssk, knit to 3 St before mid round, k2tog k1, sl marker, k1 ssk, knit all to 3 st before beginning of round marker, k2tog, k1.
Then knit next round.
Alternate these two until 32 St left, (18 between each marker)
3 needle bind off or Kitchener.

I wove my ends in as I worked and carried round colours down from previous rounds on inside of ankle.
