Perfect project for those new to stranded colorwork. Pattern was clear and easy to follow and the entire beret knit up in about 10 hours.

Added extra row of BC after cast on for more prominent brim contrast. Knit brim with US 5 16” circular, switched to US 6 for colorwork and used magic loop method instead of DPNs at crown decrease. Blocked as directed for beret shape.

Enjoyed working with this squishy alpaca yarn from Alpacas at River’s Edge Farm. Used maybe 2/3rds of each skein?

Tip: Stranded colorwork creates a dense, warm fabric so it pays to keep tension on the loose side.
