Notes

I was in a Halloween mood after all this gorgeous weather we’ve been having, and especially after making the Tiny Pumpkin from Kundhi.

To make this adorably absurd bat, I used her Tiny Crochet Ball pattern for the body. The wings are from a super cute baby Cthulu pattern. Finally, the ears are made of the large spikes from Fierce Little Dragon. I suppose you could use the small spikes instead, but the big ones seemed better suited. All the patterns I used are free. In addition to the yarn, you’ll need some buttons or safety eyes and a needle for sewing them on.

The Fat Bat seems to stand up pretty well on its own, but some popcorn or other weights in its bottom might make it a little more stable.

I love making little critters like this, that you can’t help but smile when you see them. Also, bats get a bad rap despite being essential for pollination and insect population control. It can be kind of difficult to remember that when they’re diving for mosquitoes near your head. Just think of them as tiny superheroes that are saving you from itchy, bumpy skin.
