Swatched first pattern in the round and, in doing so, taught myself how to knit on one circular needle pride. Not sure it’s going to take over from my trusty dpns, but it’s always good to add something else to my arsenal.
As I’ve noted before, Stylecraft Chunky is more of a heavy worsted so I’m using up the masses of brown I’ve got on smaller needles. And bought some more, which what I DIDN’T mean to do! grrrr
Very addictive piece to knit, stayed up until 1am to do the bottom bit. Now it’s reams of boring on colour stockinette stitch and sleeve >:-P
I really REALLY hate knitting fairisle sometimes. I’m sweltering in my chair, covered in chunky/aran knitting and surrounded by balls of said wool. I’ve got the fan on full just so I don’t melt.
Musings
- I had no where near enough of the white to finish the collar to all the full 12 cm. I’m not that bothered, I like it how it is, however I would strongly urge you to buy more if you want a fuller collar or more white at the bottom and on the sleeves.
- Couldn’t be bothered buying another shade of brown for what turned out to be 50g of knitting. I think it looks fine as it is.
- This wool is nice to work with and produces and good solid, uber warm fabric, especially when using needles slightly smaller than recommended. Past experience shows it wears well too.
- I adore some of the small details in this, especially the CO in the main colour before ribbing in contrast. I love it so much I thought it deserved its own special picture.
- I stuck in a couple of short rows in to try to stop it riding back. Not sure how successful I’ve been but it’s the first time I’ve done short rows THAT YOU CAN’T SEE!!!!!
