I’ve been part of One Brick Knits in Sunnyvale for about a year now, and in that time I’ve made a lot of crocheted hats. I found a nice double crochet style that works up really fast with the right size yarn. At one point, I started and finished a hat at the meet up, and it only took about an hour and a half. Some of the yarn was from donation, some I bought at Michael’s. Most of it has been acrylic.
All the hats and scarves go to a local charity that provides warm clothing to low-income families, the elderly and the homeless. It’s been a lot of fun making hats for a good cause, and I encourage anyone with extra time to see if there is a One Brick meet up near you.
