Notes

This is my very first knit hat (the pink and burgundy one). I’ve made dozens of crochet hats, so I was little frustrated by how slowly this one was going. But it’s worth it because it looks a million times cooler than any of my crochet hats. Not that crochet hats aren’t nice, it’s just different. Some might say better.

Switching from circular to DPNs was stressful, since it was my first time. When it was all finished, there were two dropped stitches…oops. I was able to sew it up and it’s not even noticeable. I need to make sure not to start or finish a hat when I have the coffee jitters. I was stressing over blocking properly, but it all worked out and I’m pretty satisfied with the finished piece. It’s not a slouchy as I thought it would be, but it’s probably the yarn I chose.

Since the first hat, I’ve made a few more using Patons Classic wool yarn, and I really like the outcome. I increased the amount of twisted rib rows because apparently I and those I made the hats for have pretty big heads. I also cast on 90 then increased to 96 after the rib, just to make it a little loose.
