Sleeveless Tegna
Instead of knitting the dropped sleeve version, I modified to fit as a tank.
Once divided for the armholes, I knit the back without increases and shaping (around 8.5 inches from armhole split) I BO the number of stitches called for, and split remaining number of stitches in half for left and right back shoulders.
On the front, did not do any increases but rather I decreased stitches to shape the bust/chest. (Dec total of 14 stitches, 7 on right/7 on left on RS rows like this: k1, k2tog, knit to 3 stitches before the end, ssk, k1)
I used the pattern’s instructions as a guideline to shape front neckline and shoulders, but BO far fewer stitches to begin with (again splitting the remaining stitches for right and left sides). For every dec row in the pattern, I BO 2 stitches (instead of 3) and I inc a stitch on the opposite end of the shoulder.
I proceeded this way until I had the same number of stitches for each front shoulder as each back shoulder, and then I knit the front shoulders in stockinette so that they were long enough to meet the back shoulders.
I used the 3 needle BO for the shoulders as indicated in the pattern.
Because of the U shape of the front neck, I didn’t pick up stitches around the entire neckline for finishing, but instead picked up stitches around the bottom part of the U (middle front neck) and knit in garter for a couple of rows, picking up a stitch on each side so that it was more shaped.
