Really struggled to get gauge with this. The suggested yarns are more like heavy fingering which I didn’t realise when choosing yarns for this project. Got it eventually but I think I would prefer to knit this using a heavy fingering or light sport weight yarn. Using 3.25mm chiaogoo for collar, 3.5mm symfonie for plain stockinette and 4mm symfonie for colourwork.

Update after finishing the yoke: my gauge is a mess! I didn’t think to check my colourwork gauge as I was going, and once I switched to the plain stockinette I realised my colourwork gauge was too tight, at about 26 sts. I didn’t want to redo it so did some calculations and figured out a solution.
My row gauge is also too tight so I could work more rounds in stockinette before splitting for sleeves than instructed in the pattern. In these extra rounds I could work an additional increase round, adding 30 sts. I also worked another increase round with 8 sts just before splitting. I split my stitches at the same ratio as the pattern calls for, I just have different numbers. I’m happy with the ease in the body now and am v relieved that I could salvage this! I also quite like the fabric, as I had previously been thinking that it was a bit too open for my liking!

For the lace cuffs I cast on first with a long tail cast on but found it was curling up a lot, even after blocking. I thought it might not have enough slack so I reknit it with a German twisted cast on. My needle was too long to join in the round at first, so I turned my work and worked flat for 2 rows. I didn’t want to have another row of purl bumps after my cast on, because the German twisted cast on already has an extra bump that the long tail cast on doesn’t, so I wanted my first row to be the knit row when looking at the right side. As I was working back and forth for the first 2 rows, I worked a purl row into my cast on row. I then worked the first lace repeat before joining to work in the round.
