• Knitting at a tighter gauge (23 sts) because I want a denser fabric. I also want more ease so am knitting halfway between a size L and XL. I calculated that I would need to knit a size L, but work an extra 2 rows in the 1st yoke section (8 additional increases), and in the 2nd yoke section I would need to replace the last 2 rows with 2 additional rows from the 3rd increase section (4 additional increases).

• For the ribbing I went down to a 2.5mm needle and worked a row of increases every 7th st (increasing by 14%). Worked 1x1 for 9 cm on the body and 19 rounds on the sleeves.

• Double knit button band: I picked up every st on 2.5mm needles and cast on 15 sts. for the buttonholes I followed Florence Miller’s tutorial for buttonholes without breaking the yarn. My buttonholes were 3 stitches tall, and 22 sts between each, referring to the picked up sts. The area just below the ‘saddle’ is bubbling, like there is too much fabric for the space between the button band and the saddle (maybe the increases were too rapid?). The rest of the v-neck is fine so I think it’s more to do with the saddle part of the shoulder rather than the front panel compared to the button band pick up. I’m pretty positive it will block out as it doesn’t see too extreme.
