Nupps & Beads…5 days from start to finish…
Here is how I estimated the length required for that long tail…Cast on 30 stitches, frogged them, measured the yarn used in the long tail, multiplied by 12. For my yarn, tension and needles, I needed at least 10 feet, but I actually started with about 14 feet of long tail.

Day 1: Cast on 363 stitches (placing stitch markers every 30 stitches so I wouldn’t have to recount all of the stitches.) Plan on this taking between 40 minutes to an hour.

Happily knit the first 8 rows. Adding beads to the pattern for a little subtle sparkle.

Day 2: Reached THE NUPPS…Managed to complete rows 9 & 10…Not nearly as much fun as rows 1-8.

Day 3: Since reaching the Nupps yesterday, have tried three different techniques with the one presented by Myrna Wood on you tube

becoming my clear favorite.

It creates a sort of left leaning nupp, but that is a fair compromise considering my classically created nupps leave a lot to be desired at this point.

I am adding sparkly 6mm bicone crystal beads as I go with a .75 mm crochet hook. Note: these are not replacing the nupps…I love the nupps

930 pm FINISHED THE NUPPS!

Day 4: Completed the lace and knit well into the short rows today.

One minor mod, on the short rows: I replaced the SSk with a K2Tog and I replaced the P2Tog with a P2TBL. I like putting the slanting stitch UNDER the stitch that lines up with the rest of the rows when I am decreasing. I think it looks neater.

Day 5: Finished!

Yarn review: I must get my hands on more of this exquisite yarn. It’s weight is really a very light fingering…half way between lace weight and fingering. It is soft and wonderful to work with. Good stitch definition, too. The fabric is warm, soft and yet very fine. My only problem was that it was a little bit fragile. I abused it when I hooked beads onto the stitches and in two cases a broke a ply with the tiny crochet hook and glass bead.

Day 6: Cast on Abrazo…
