Notes

This is my first knitted baby afghan. I am famous for not finishing projects. I’m under the gun on this one though. The baby was already born by the time I started. My goal is 3 weeks.

Started at a picnic on 7/3. Finished knitting 7/25. Tucked in ends and gave it a wash on 7/26.

Couldn’t find the yarn used in the pattern so I went with the TLC Baby. It worked up very pretty.

Fairly easy pattern once I got going. It was confusing to me that the pattern seemed to used different abbreviations for a yarn over (yrn, yfwd and yon) I found an online site that said different terms may be used in knitting depending on what stitches the yarn over comes between. Evidently yrn is used between knit and purl, yon between purl knit and yfwd between 2 knit stitches. Go figure. I began as a crocheter so a yarn over is a yarn over is a yarn over (yo).

Although there is a 16 row repeat, it really isn’t difficult to follow. Not saying I didn’t have to frog anything, but not bad for me. I actually began to “read my lace” by the end. Go me!

The finished size in the pattern was 35” square. I used all but 1oz of yarn and I ended up with approximate 30 x 40, which is okay with me. I washed it and just kind of pulled it to even it out.

Since I used a variegated, the pattern isn’t as prominent, but I’m very happy with it.
