I have been wanting to make Jack for ages and found just the right occasion for it. A friend of mine is semi-obsessed with Halloween and loves this movie, as do I. So I decided to make him.

I made quite some alterations from the original pattern. Firstly, I did some spool knitting in stead of I-cord for the legs and arms, and stuffed them with pipe cleaners. It was really nice to get the spool out, loved to do this as a kid. I knitted/crocheted a pair of hands and made a small piece of spool knitting for feet. The head was made to be slightly longer to get a more round look and I added some neck. Both the eyes and mouth were sewed on. In fact, there is no felt on Jack at all. For the cat broche, I knitted the cat and made some small knitting/crocheting bits to the side for the rags/whiskers. I did the same for the tail coat. I added a small white bit to the front of Jack’s Jacket, and took up some stitches on both side to make jacket-flaps.

I really love how it turned out!
