Notes

This is the second version of my son’s watch cap since the first, knit in a size large, was too big. It is exactly the fit he wanted. This was knit in an adult small with a cast on of 96 after much measuring and some research on Ravelry.

I followed the great modifications suggested here: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Pennalicious/beanie-no-212-5

I knit about 6 inches of 2x2 rib and 27 rows of the wide 6x2 ribbing. With the brim cuffed, the hat measured 7 inches long before the decreases. Using the suggested 4 point decrease on the crown gave a better fit for a smaller sized hat…less tight at the top. Decreasing on 4 dpns rather than 3 was much easier too. I also like the look of it. So does he!

Much thanks to my daughter who snapped these photos in the cold parking lot of an upstate New York BBQ restaurant where the hat was gifted. She also took the awesome shot of the icicles hanging nearby.
