Notes

Patch was knit with all fingering yarns held double. A fun knit and a big hit with all…especially those who insist on changing his poses!

The Pumpkin pattern is awesome and addictive!!! And it’s free! The ones with shown Patch were knit with 2.25 needles and sock yarn.

UPDATE!!! The Pumpkin pattern is no longer available… :(. Here is what I remember of it…be sure to leave 6 ( or more for heavier weight yarns) inches of yarn at the beginning and end for sewing up.

Long tail CO 35, K4 P1 in the round for 25 rows. Cut yarn leaving enough for sewing. Thread needle to sew together stitches…pull tight. Stuff pumpkin. Pick up cast on stitches with sewing needle threaded with the tail from cast on. Stuff a bit more before sewing together. Don’t stuff so much that you see stuffing through your knitted fabric and can’t “dimple” your pumpkin in the middle. Tighten the threaded stitches and pull the needle from the top straight through the bottom….tighten and tie off the two ends. I sew both end threads back through the middle a few times to give the pumpkin shape and anchor both end threads.

Cast on 3 stitches and knit 3 or four rows of iCord for a stem. Sew securely to the top center.

Various yarn weights can be used to create different sizes. The pumpkins can be made larger or smaller by varying the number of cast on stitches (always in multiple of 5). Just keep the proportion at about 10 rows less than the number of cast on stitches. The cast on stitches and needles sizes will vary accordingly. The project page for the missing pattern gives great tips from knitters:
