I was watching Craftsy’s Off Our Needles, the Spring fling episode, which showcased the Brooklyn Boot Liners & Mitts pattern (pattern link at top). Immediately I envisioned the beautiful layered feather and fan edging as the hem of a dress.

I chose XRay Ann’s yarn in delicate pastels.

I followed the pattern for the Tall Boot Liners from the beginning, only doing one repeat rather than two (knitting flat for both following the pattern exactly even on the “wrong side”) for both the MC and CC Layers, using the contrasting color for the 3 needle join. This pattern uses a 96 stitch cast on, so I continued knitting the dress following my usual modifications found here . The charts shown are only for the stockinette body of the dress. Each 6 stitch chart is repeated 16 times for all three versions. I began decreases on row 21 of each.

For the hem of the pink dress, I followed the same boot liner mods used for the first two versions, but skipped the fourth row on each layer so the hem would not be as deep.

I enjoyed XRay Anns yarn for the first cream version (those colors!!!!!) but did find the roses showed through the cream a bit. That always seems to be an issue when knitting a darker colorwork design on a light background which is why i don’t do it more often with any yarns. The pink and purple dresses were knit using Knit Picks Palette yarn.

The bunny was knit using Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK in caramel on 2.75 needles.
