Colleague of mine and his partner have been trying for a child for a while now. I bought this yarn, intending to make this pattern, long before I heard they were expecting. I never got around to starting the blanket, but when I heard the good news, I knew this was the perfect time.

This pattern is an excellent combination of lacework and cables. Even for a beginner knitter, the repetition makes it easy to remember the pattern and recognize when you’ve gone wrong. Definitely knit this on circular needles, though—that is a lot of stitches to try to hold on straight needles!

By using all four balls, I ended up with a slightly larger blanket (measurements to be included after I block it).

The Louet wool was excellent, except that I kept running across breaks in the yarn when I was winding.
