One of my Ultimate Frisbee teammates was envious of my handknit fingerless mittens and asked if I would make a pair for him. Of course I have to go and choose a different pattern—though I now want to make a pair for myself.

I love alpaca blends for my mittens. However, if I make this pattern for myself I might choose extra fine merino to get a better contrast in the two colours.

I cast on 40 sts on 2.5 mm (56 sts at 2.75 mm was way too loose) and increased to 58 sts over 2 rounds after switching to 3 mm.

I knitted chart rounds 1 to 32, then skipped to round 41 to start the thumb gusset (so omitting one vertical repeat of the pattern).
