Notes

Previously I made my friend Amanda 2 whales, whom she named Gary and Marty. She kept Gary for herself and gave Marty to a friend as a present for a baby.

Amanda is going away for a month and will be incommunicado. She idly mentioned she would love to take Gary, but she doesn’t want him to get wrecked, and he would take up too much space.

So I downsized the Wasabi pattern! I basically halved everything: I increased to just 40 stitches, knit half the rounds I needed to knit, etc., to keep everything in proportion. Same goes for the tail fins—start with 5 stitches instead of 10. I kind of eyeballed the side fins in terms of how much to increase/knit before decreasing.

As you can see from the photos, I finished this guy off by adding a keychain and a carabiner so that Amanda can clip him to her luggage and not worry about losing him.

I have been told I need to be more proactive in naming these stuffed animals, so I took it upon myself to christen him Tony the Tiny Whale!

Just a note for myself that I gave this guy to Amanda tonight along with the other part of her present.

I am going to miss her so much, but Tony will keep her company, and then she will be back.

Knitting things for people is literally the best.
