cast on for the adult M size (checked and fits fine for a 60-62 in. head since my gauge is slightly larger)

trying the jogless stripe tech where on row 2 of a color change you slip the first st

3 row color change stripes is too thick, will tink back and try 2 row tomorrow

2 row color change stripes also kind of thick, and at this point I might as well do one row stripes --> doing the helical knitting tech for jogless

cast on 56 sts of the douglas fir, 56 of the black currant using the second intarsia cast on method presented here

thinking ahead for the turn…will probably turn @ the midpoint where both yarns meet instead of the beginning of the round

• since I did a 2 color cast on w the green first, it means that the douglas fir is always half a round ahead of the black currant
• not sure if the turning st should be the first or last st of the round (douglas fir or black currant) to give a more seamless look

finished brim and turning

for turning, last row is a douglas fir row:

1. going to turn NOT at the end of the row but instead at the halfway point because this is where I’ll have both the yarns
2. knit all sts with the douglas fir up to the halfway marker, then turning my work, putting the black currant yarn to the back before slipping last knitted st pw wyif - when pulling the sts taught to the back, the weird double st is in black currant (matching the row color I’ll be working now immediately after turning)
3. will need to adjust tension by pulling on the neighboring sts since it leaves a hole initially, but with a little adjustment it looks pretty good

finished hat, will weave in ends and give it a wash and block tomorrow

overall, the helix striping worked very well, and the spot where I turned is pretty clean and unnoticeable despite one half of the hat being one rnd shorter than the other (due to multicolored cast on and how I turned) I think
