This is my second Tinder and I am equally as fond of this version as my original. I foolishly substituted a garter selvedge stitch not realizing that the stst selvedge was needed to achieve the shoulder seam and the 2x2 hem rib details (foolish on my part - I primarily work from BT patterns because of the excellent pattern writing and attention to detail - there was obviously a reason why a stst vs garter selvedge was called for - shame on me for not reading the full pattern before launching into mods).
I would definitely knit this a 3rd time (perhaps in BT Shelter, Soot?) & highly recommend the pattern. It is a straightforward & relatively quick knit.
For my next version I would go down a needle size for the collar & hem ribbing (as the pattern recommends) and I would forgo the tubular CO on the front & back pieces & sleeves. Although I LOVE the look of the tubular CO, I had to use a regular BO for the collar & buttonband and I don’t like the contrast between the tubular CO & regular BO.
With regard to the yarn - the GMS Weekend Wool was wonderful to work with and it I think that it will wear well. I will definitely be stocking up on this wool for future projects - it is a wonderful wooly wool.
notes
-gauge is slightly tighter then pattern calls however I like the fabric produced with the 4.5 mm needles & I find the BT patterns fit a bit large; will proceed with 4.5 mm needles knitting the 34.25 bust size (my bust is ~ 33 - 33.5 “)
