Both skeins say lay flat to dry, so I definitely need to wash and dry a swatch to be sure it will hold up.

Swatch gives 32 stitches per inch on 3mm needles. Slightly tighter with the green, but the switch comes after the crown decreases, so that’s fine.

January 24
Cast on last night, everything was fine. Today I started using the chart and got 2 rows in when I realized that the count was off. You have to forward the round sheet row 10 by 4 purl stitches for every repeat. I should have realized that, but I didn’t. When the first 10 rows are written out, it feels like set up rows. Then when it says to work the chart, it does not indicate that you need to forward after the 10th row again. But you totally do.

Later that day
I finished the second repeat of the chart and decided to add a third for a deeper hat.

I tried both kinds of increases, and the m1r/l look the best. The other creates holes on the left.

January 24
I started my green on KNIT STITCHES ONLY on round 24, and stranded loosely across the back (because you can’t tack floats on purl) to give a better leaf effect. I tacked when possible across knit sections on later rows.

Round 35 appears to be an error. For the double increase, there are already 3 stitches there. So i just knit them across, and the count worked out for the next increase row.

I kept my purl column to the end, made the icord and tied it into a knot. So cute!
