6 years ago, I made my first Rustic Ritz. I love it so much, that I still wear it with nearly every outfit from fall through spring. This shawl came out much smaller than the original pattern, and is a perfect neck scarf, which I wear point-forward. My favorite thing is to layer it under my favorite denim jacket, although I also wear it over dresses. It’s the perfect neutral, and I can typically wear it with either brown or black undertones.
However, when I made it something went wrong with my increases in the lower section and the middle point is off center. Like, off center enough that it’s noticeable to me. When the point is centered, my 2 tails are different lengths by almost 2”, and when the tails are even the point isn’t. No one else notices, but I finally decided to just make the silly thing again!
I picked up some Mirasol Ch’ichi From Needles and Hooks (and got a deal!) because I really enjoy the linen texture of my original. It softened up with use, and because it’s not wool I can wear it for a much longer season without getting too hot and needing to take it off. The Mirasol is 30% alpaca, but I’m hoping that there’s enough linen to make it retain that airy feeling.
I plan to leave off the beads this time, because I think the tweeds will give it enough interest.
Casting on before we leave on our fall break trip to Palm Springs!
Pirouette Yarn Butler and Row/Repeat counter in the airplane photo is from canbeecraftyshop.etsy.com. Easiest plane knitting ever! No more pulling up from the bag under my feet, it was just as easy as knitting at home!
Early November
I’m on the second repeat of the edging now - going well! I forgot how much faster it would go without beads!
