My size 8 foot measures 24cm to the end of my big toe, will make the 4th size in parenthesis.

Planning to follow all substitutions listed on this long, but very helpful video. Except I’ll use Judy’s magic cast on, instead of turkish. It gives the same effect, but with nicer stitch definition, and easier to knit into.

Swatching 30 sts in the round. Ideally, it will measure 4” exactly!

Swatch on 6mm = 3.75 inches
Swatch on 7mm = 4.25 inches… Figures.
Swatch on 6.5mm - 4 inches.

January 14
Finishing the first slipper, and I have 24” yarn left and about 4 rounds to go on the toe… I’m going to go ahead and finish using the other ball if yarn. If the other hank was longer, I’ll have enough to finish. If not, I’ll grab another ball. It’s just a toe - it doesn’t even need to match!

January 18
I finished the 2 balls when I was only 1/2 done with the second slipper. I got a third skein and still had to skimp on the last row of the toe! Ready to felt!

January 22
Pre-washing length - 38cm
Washer: top load, bottom agitator (no post)

First wash: 2 detergent packs, hot wash, extra heavy soil setting. Forgot to add a towel!
Length after first wash: 30.5cm

Second wash: same settings, added some towels and a couple of jackets.
Length after serving wash: 28cm.

Third wash: same settings, same towels and jackets.
Length: 27cm. Tried them on, still too loose in the toe.

Fourth wash: just kept the hoodie, 3 soap packs and a scoop of oxyclean.
Length: 24cm!

Took ages to get them inside out, but they’re great! Tight enough to stretch to fit. I wore them around for a little while until everything was smooth and tight, then removed to dry. So excited! They’re so firm, it’s almost unbelievable!
