At first I cast on size small accidentally. Once I realized, I did it again in size large. I like the doubled brim! And I’m loving this yarn at this gauge - super squishy!

I’m making my ribbed stripes 8 rows, because I want them to be closer in size to the slipped stitch sections.
Making a shorter hat. Switching to 6mm needles on the 3rd ribbing repeat.

I wanted to end with white, so I did the decreases in the honeycomb section, which worked great.
- Knit row
- P3tog, slip
- Knit row
- Regular honeycomb purl row
I’m glad I made it shorter, another 2 sections would have been too long for my taste.
I wish I had used smaller needles throughout. It’s just a little bit too wide and loose for me. The brim is perfect in size large - just enough stretch so it doesn’t fall down. But the patterning is too wide with the up-sized needles - the hat wants to fold on the sides, as well as at the neck. If I make this hat again, I’ll stay with the brim-sized needles, or even go down 1 size. Mine is much bulkier than the original pattern photo, so it’s probably just a gauge issue on my part.
I love the pattern, and love the overall look!! The cascade 128 is ultra squishy and was a perfect choice for this pattern!! Love love love

I am planning to wear this to our ski trip to Oregon, and it’s just too big. It looks silly folding over at the ears and practically laying down my neck. Pulled the whole thing out.
Using 6mm throughout, increasing after every 10 the whole way around.
Row patterning: 8 rounds ribbing, 12 rounds honeycomb with last knit row in new color.
