I fell in love with the movie Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and promptly decided to make my own little Ohmu. I used the movie and manga for reference on this project.

The eyes needed to have some depth, it was difficult to find a blue that both looked somewhat like the beautiful blue in the movie, but also didn’t look oddly flat against the multi-faceted velvety body. I am happy with the end result.
The golden tendrils are able to be tucked away under the first plate (seen in first photo).
I find it amusing to make hard-shelled/bodied creatures in a soft and huggable form, this is a good example of that idea.

This special friend is guardian of the living room and lives on the back of our couch, definitely one of my favorite creations (don’t tell the others)
