10/10/16 - Final photos of the bouquet on it’s big day are now up!

22/09/16 - Not updated this for a while. OK, so the yarn has been wrapped around different sizes of polystyrene balls. I found lace weight works best for this. Also after much frustration with the balls popping off the wire, a hot-glue gun was introduced to fix them. Then I placed the large sized yarn balls into a bouquet shape, then I added the next smaller size, and so on until all the balls were in a bouquet shape in my hands. At this point I had no choice but to use small amounts of the hot-glue to fix the yarn balls together. Just a small amount towards the underside of the balls so as not to affect the appearance on the surface. The wires were then trimmed to all be the same length in the stem, wrapped in quilting felt/wadding, and then wrapped with some sheer white ribbon. All secured with a little hot-glue. Using some more of the quilting felt/wadding I hashed together a skirt for the underside of the bouquet and glued this on. There are also two knitted circles for the underside, one a sideways knitted circle with beads on the edge, and one a centre-out lacy knit, both in the lace yarn. Further to this, there are small lacy leaves and spirals to make the bouquet more delicate and pretty.

07/02/16 - After practicing, the wire will not support the weight of the larger balls. So as suggested by a friend, I will need to use polystyrene balls wrapped in yarn.

06/02/16 - I’m making myself a yarn ball bouquet for my wedding. I intend for it to be predominantly natural coloured yarns, with the odd small ball of dyed yarn. There will be no acrylic yarn.
