I love and have used this pattern before for a baby blanket for my nephew. I decided now that we’re expecting that I’d use the same pattern, but try to make it more interesting.

The feather and fan type “lace” lends itself well to ocean waves. As I worked on the blanket on our trip to Savannah, GA and Tybee Island on the ocean, I thought using three different ocean-y colors together in a striped pattern would naturally create beautiful “waves” in the blanket.

Instead of making the stripes go blue->teal->green and repeating, I decided to use the teal to “fade” between the blue and green. I love the turnout!

The photos of me knitting outdoors were taken at Forsyth Park in Savannah, GA. You can see my growing baby belly along with the blanket!
